Offering two workshops to all public, private, and homeschooling educators
Teachers’ Workshop:Understanding Dyslexia and Effective Literacy Instruction
Time: 1- 4 p.m.; CEUs-Certificate of Attendance 3 hrs.
This instructional workshop will provide teachers with the current information on “how” the brain learns to read and how to identify students having difficulty learning to read including characteristics of dyslexia. Teachers will also develop their understanding of “what” it takes to teach students structured literacy (foundational reading skills) to improve academic achievement.
Detailed Description
This session will provide educators with the research and engaging strategies to use when instructing explicit and systematic elements for reading instruction.
Participants will be able to recognize characteristics of dyslexia and effective instruction.
- Participants will be able to describe what we know about how the brain learns to read.
- Participants will be able to identify and apply the elements of Structured Literacy.
- Participants will be able to recognize systems and accommodations to support their struggling readers.
