Offering two workshops to all public, private, and homeschooling educators
Administrators’ Workshop: Effective Tools for Improving Reading and Writing Achievement
Time: 8 a.m.-12 noon; TASL Credit 4 hrs
This engaging workshop will provide administrators with the current information on “how” the brain learns to read, why some students have difficulty learning to read, and what skills need to be screened to identify students at-risk for dyslexia. Instructional leaders will also increase their understanding of “what” it takes to teach ALL learners structured literacy (foundational reading skills) to be successful readers and the support systems they can put in place. The application of assessment data to inform instructional practices will also be discussed.
Detailed Description
This session will provide instructional leaders with the research and engaging strategies to use when instructing the five essential elements for reading instruction.
- Participants will be able to describe what we know about how the brain learns to read.
- Participants will be able to identify the elements of the Structured Literacy.
- Participants will be able to recognize effective instruction and systems for support.
